Roasting veggies today for the week – cauliflower and carrots but whoa, the carrots, from Stop ‘n Shop last week – holy horses Batman – the are rotten. They have the Stop ‘n Shop logo on the bag, and say Produce From Canada, distributed by a Maryland company. I haven’t had them long and I don’t remember they were black when I grabbed them off the shelf. So strange.
I’m going to deep-six them. Even if they aren’t rotten on the inside, why take a chance? It’s like there’s a fungus – tossing them right now – every one.
I used a new recipe to roast the cauliflower – from a website called The Fitchen, yes, not a type, the Fitchen. Sweet and Spicy Roasted Cauliflower.
The marinade was unusual, but good. I might use a tad less Sriracha next time or maybe even less maple syrup – something seemed too strong for me but I’m not sure which ingredient overpowered. I rarely go this exotic roasting veggies, but I was bored. Nothing ventured. Nothing gained.
- 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 Tablespoon sriracha
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 Tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Crummy weather day. Rain on and off but oddly warm and very little breeze (of course the second I typed that, a big wind came over me from the open breakfast room door.
Reading. Cleaning house and drawers – tossing out old clothes that are so old they aren’t good to donate. A ripped nightgown that was my favorite, almost in shreds, now cut into dust rage. Alas, it was time.
