So the ad team is sittin’ round the table saying, yeh, this is really good????

Dove, the makers of shampoo and body products, is taking a ton of heat (deservedly) for this ad of four photos. The first photo shows a dark-skinned woman, but as the woman  lifts up her shirt (and also I guess her skin) it reveals a smiling white woman. It’s an ad for Dove Body Wash. I’m gonna wash that black right out of my skin????

I am sure admen have a TEAM that works on one product line so I can’t even imagine how this ad got by round one. Did no one at the ad agency say, um, hey, this is a tad wrong? Then of course, the ad has to be presented to the client. No one at Dove thought twice either???

Dove has apologized for “missing the mark”. Oh dear, Dove, you missed more than the mark.  I don’t use Dove products anyway so it’s no skin off my face (ha ha). I’m a Neutrogena gal.

Raining here very steadily, and did most of the night. But get this, I have the air conditioning on. Yesterday the air was so dense and putrid, everything in the house was sticky.  Click on, Done. Aaah.

Lastly, are we supposed to be celebrating Columbus or hating Columbus today? I am so confused. Oops, I forgot to add, there’s the Veep leaving the Colts game to talk about too. Lots on the plate. I’m in to chat. I’m home all day. Go for it.

Happy Monday.

  1. Hey, hate this weather….have the AC on and the fireplace to dehumidify
Might start Xmas shopping because I’m not leaving the house

  2. Fr chuckles, let’s talk about Meryl’s Streep’s comment re Weinstein.

“The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported. The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes.

One thing can be clarified. Not everybody knew. Harvey supported the work fiercely, was exasperating but respectful with me in our working relationship, and with many others with whom he worked professionally. I didn’t know about these other offenses: I did not know about his financial settlements with actresses and colleagues; I did not know about his having meetings in his hotel room, his bathroom, or other inappropriate, coercive acts. And If everybody knew, I don’t believe that all the investigative reporters in the entertainment and the hard news media would have neglected for decades to write about it.

The behavior is inexcusable, but the abuse of power familiar. Each brave voice that is raised, heard and credited by our watchdog media will ultimately change the game.”

The comment is scripted by her PR peeps and that’s why it took so long to be forthcoming. Streep herself is in hiding for fear someone might as her for an off the cuff comment, ya know, the kind of shit she can has when asked about Trump.

    1. That must be new this morning. I have not seen it yet. Thanks for posting it. Agree that not one word was uttered by Streep herself. Hollywood thinks we’re stupid.

    2. Weinstein preyed on adult women, and Streep has harsh criticism. In the meantime Meryl openly supports a pedophile, Roman Polanski. I guess she thinks it is ok to prey on underage girls, but not ones over 18. Liberals at their best. Disgusting.

      1. Liberals. That’s all I need to hear. It’s all disgusting. Weinstein. The women who aren’t talking. Polanski. Hillary who is silent.

  3. Back home after a long and fun weekend on Nantucket with a bunch of other widowed women of Greenwich. It was beautiful summer weather perfect for biking and walking the beaches. The only bad part was the fight home today in the winds and rain. landing at HPN around 1 was scary.

I’m woefully behind in news and in glancing at your posts, I’m glad I didn’t have the TV on. It was great to disconnect.
