I stopped by an outdoor art installation in Westport and among the works displayed was this…referred to as a Hitching Post. Alaskan yellow cedar. Steel.
Mr. EOS has so much
junk crap good stuff in his shed, he coulda made this easily. Hell, he could make a dozen of them and have junk crap good stuff leftover for another twelve.
At the price the artist is asking for his hitching post, the only question left to ask Mr. EOS is What are you doing the rest of the day?
I love art and I can appreciate the beauty of this piece, but (a) who’d hitch up to it, it’s too low for horses and (b) who’d pay $9k for it? Hint, if I didn’t pay $33 for a local chicken, I’m not going to buy a $9k plank of yellow cedar. No offense to the artist – I hope for his (her?) sake it’s sold, and soon. Artists are pretty incredible souls but this particular piece didn’t sing to me.
