Slowly, slowly, the peonies are beginning to open. Today’s sunshine helps and yesterday’s rain did some damage to the very fragile peony petals. One peony died before opening, something I’ve never seen before.

Bee yoo ti full! I don’t have any peonies with the yellow in the middle. What are those kind?
Anonymous: The Official Latin name of the Peonies with Yellow in the Middle is: PeoniesWithYellowInTheMiddle. Hey, I just grow them. I don’t actually KNOW about them!! đŸ™‚
Mrs. Gardner would be very jealous.
The peony with the yellow in the middle is the Tree Peony. Here is some info:

SB: A tree peony? So interesting, and news to me. I had no idea I had two kinds of peonies – I thought they were all herbaceous (sp?). Learn something new every day! Thanks.
Your photographs always amaze me. How do you get those close-ups of the flowers to stay in focus?
BB: Aaaah, the secret is that I only POST the photos that were in focus!! The camera takes most of the credit – it is very hard to zoom in in a field of flowers – often the camera wants to focus on the leaf so I have as many out of focus shots on the camera that I don’t use. I should have a blog post dedicated to all those snapshots that didn’t make the cut! Far more were lousy than were good.
Your peonies are gorgeous, EOS.
About to post some more peony pix Val. They bloomed all at once in a burst. I’ll be sad then they die. Such a short lived flower. But powerfully beautiful.
