I’m Home Now to Change My Underwear!

February 4, 2013

Out early today getting typical Monday chores done, I was on a nearby very narrow Bedford back road, narrower over winter with snow along the sides. I was minding my business, paying attention, not texting, not changing the Sirius channel, not doing anything other than hands on the wheel at 10 and 2, looking straight ahead, when out of nowhere, a blue pickup truck going the other direction, came straight at me. He, on MY side of the road, coming around a blind bend. He must have been blind too!

Photo not taken today but representative of width of road. Add snow. Add one jerk.

I veered and slammed on the brakes then skidded a bit hitting an icy patch of the edge of the road. Instinct kicked in and I also put both hands on the part of the steering wheel where the horn is, to wake up this idiot.

He was long gone, oblivious.

The only thing that made me laugh was that when sitting on the horn, I engaged the GPS talking software which said to me “We do not recognize that location.” smiley-laughing025

No damage, just a little frayed nerves. And wondering who the jerk was who was paying no attention and wishing I had a dash cam. Coincidentally, very recently, I saw on a science or tech channel, an interview with the designer of a wireless camera that uploads video to your iPhone and social media, called the Looxcie. Amazon reviews are mixed but I do see it is available with the optional windshield mount. Now THAT would have been a very good thing.

Title surprised us too! Maybe you instinctively uttered a related word and that is what engaged your talking GPS??
