See You in Five Years!
January 25, 2013
Noooooooooooo, I’m not quitting blogging. Those words are from the lips of my doctor this morning after a colonoscopy. Yeah! The doctor was not only on time, but I was his first procedure so he was ready early. That’s always a good thing.

It took me a bit to recover from the anesthesia but the post-procedure team brought me a bagel and a cup of coffee before I made my way home…to have another cup of coffee.
It was EOS Wellness Week, running the entire top-to-bottom gamut of body part medical check-ups (I’ll leave out the details for fear of being accused of TMI!)

… snickering horse. Incidentally, is that Mr. Ed? My wife’s favorite American TV show (in re-runs on UHF channels. Remember those?) when she came to Boston as a foreign student. Go figure….
I don’t think that’s Mr. Ed because the Google found clip didn’t make mention of that – certainly a doppelgänger for Mr. Ed though if not the real deal.
There are about three or four great TV stations now showing good old shows – there’s MeTV, there’s Cozi TV, and there’s there’s there’s…darn, I can’t think of the third right now. I was never really a fan of Mr. Ed so I don’t watch the reruns. I’m more of a Father Knows Best viewer. That Girl too.
Good for you — and congratulations!!!
Maybe none of my business, but that never stopped me: Was part of the whole body wellness week a mammogram? My doctor and I had a long discussion about the merits of having a mammogram annually. She’s of the mind it’s fine every other year – far fewer false positives.
Yes, Catherine. One Mammogram. My doctor is in sync with yours – every other year is just fine. The debate is controversial and maybe more for my age group than yours. For every article you find about the musts of annual screening, no matter your age, there are an equal number of doctors who say screenings aren’t the be-all end all. Now, that said, two of my good friends found cancer from a mammogram and got treated quickly and are healthy today because of it. Erring on the side of caution is not usually my life mantra, but in this case I say, why not.
You’re wise to have anesthesia with a colonoscopy. I had it done once almost ten years ago and my doctor didn’t tell me to take painkillers. oh whew the pain was awful. I heard loud moaning and it took me a while to realize it was coming from me. I’ll never go again.
RTV is also one. Makes you realize how far TV has sunk when you see how well written shows like Naked City and Route 66 were and all of the great actors who used to do TV shows.
Oh dear god. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry reading your comment. I can’t imagine a doctor not giving you anesthesia. I think this is the third colonoscopy I’ve had in fifteen years and even the first one lo those many years ago, the doctor put me out. NO WONDER you don’t want to go again.
Hmmm. RTV. I’m not sure I get that. I remembered the third one I watch, Antenna TV. You have Cablevision that gets RTV?
EOS I discovered on that table that I have a twisted colon. When the doctor couldn’t get his instrument through he called over a nurse aid and had him PUSH on my belly … and all that with no drugs.
Rosie: I WINCED reading your comment.
Excellent news, EOSr! Have Mr. EOSr take you out to a buffet and enjoy more than a couple libations! Cheers, it’s TGIF!
It’s 4:22 here. At 5pm, we are headed out, celebration in mind. Mr. EOS passed all his tests too with flying colors so alot to celebrate.
Happy TGIF to you and the Mrs. as well.
It used to be Channel 77 on CT Cablevision. We switched to U-verse so I don’t know if it is still there. We get it on Comcast on weekends up in Vermont.
Smart to switch from Cablevision. Very smart. I’ve made the loop of channels and don’t see it. Thanks for the tip nonetheless.
