Here’s My Two Cents: We’ll NEVER Find Out What Happened in Benghazi!

January 23, 2013

The political junkie in me is glued to the tube watching Secretary of State Clinton testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

US-Secretary-of-State-Hillary-Clinton-speaks-to-the-press-following-at-the-State-Department-on-January-15-2013-in-Washington-DC.-AFP

And nothing makes my blood boil faster than media bias. Both sides folks, so don’t get testy. Fox is just as bad as MSNBC; they both report their version of the story and not the actual story. So this morning I knew nothing was going to change as all three major news networks led with this as their headline:

REPUBLICANS DEMAND ANSWERS FROM CLINTON.

Now, I ask you, as an American, shouldn’t we ALL demand answers from Clinton? No matter your party? I don’t understand the love fest by the Democrats nor the stupid questions about Ambassador Rice from the Republicans but no real questions about how this actually happened. Only the platitude, “make sure it doesn’t happen again.” UGH.

As of this writing, Secretary Clinton (who, I should add, I think has done an admirable job, up until Benghazi!) says ”the picture in Benghazi is still complicated and clouded.” Other Clinton quotes so far.

Terrible tragic time

Elevate the discussion so everyone’s on the same page to avoid less optimal decisions

We didn’t have a clear picture

Benghazi joins a long list of tragedies

But now, John McCain is asking pointed questions. Real questions. Yes, I know, he’s a Republican, but he’s asking questions that a Democrat would want to know the answers too. Four months later we still don’t know what happened. Clinton plainly says she “doesn’t agree”. She didn’t answer one of his questions.

So the deaths of four Americans goes unsolved, not that we can’t unearth the details, but that politics gets in the way. Perfect example, Senator Durbin from Illinois is on a rant about Bush’s statement of Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. See, it’s all about politics, not getting answers.

Sigh.

I’m glued too; two kids home sick. Hubby feeling achy as he hopped aboard train to city.

You know America is in trouble when you see the room full or drooling lapdogs praising Clinton. They seem to have forgotten we have 4 dead Americans.

I’m no fan of McCain. I did like his questions, but he went on so long, his time was up. And then Clinton didn’t answer a one because he lumped like a half dozen questions at once. Dumb.

I’m no fan of McCain’s either. I held my nose voting for him. You are spot-on about McCain rambling. He’s getting old.

Sorry to hear about the sick kids. You haven’t gotten it yet? We’re all healthy here, knock on wood.

what happens in benghazi stays in benghazi. your assertion that we will never find out the truth is 100% correct.

I am sick watching this senate hearing. Catherine is right. The Dems are praising her job and The Repubs are asking stupid old dumb questions. Even if anyone were to ask the right question in the right tone, you don’t actually think Clinton would answer that she knew what happened, do you?

White House Dossier is running a live feed and this is the Clinton quote that I heard that caused me to jump out of my chair and scream:

“It is less important today as to why these militants decided they did it than to find them and bring them to justice and maybe we’ll figure out what was going on in the meantime.”

    Cold-hearted Hannah.

Even I thought the senate hearings were worthless. You are right that the Democrats were kissing up and the Republicans were out for blood, but bottom line, in my opinion, this issue should never have gotten to this stage. Our President, for whom I proudly voted in twice, should have addressed the problem from Day One. Rather, he sent out Ambassador Rice. This is about the only issue I have a real problem with Obama. Where is HE on this? Why isn’t HE talking or answering the tough questions?

Ack. You are a braver soul than I because I haven’t been able to watch the news since the election. I heard on Rush this a.m. that the tagline was “What does it matter?” hmmm….what does it matter that 4 people were killed while desperately begging for help? Did you see Argo or Zero Dark Thirty?? Both upset me even more about Benghazi. Sigh.

I felt I had to watch the hearings. I had hoped for some common sense, some answers, and of course, the ultimate dream, no partisan questions. So much for my dream.

Saw both movies. Argo was the better of the two. Still had to close my eyes for many scenes.

  10. January 23, 2013 12:51 pm

Yep, there was a bunch of jumping and covering my eyes. Argo was so good and infuriated me, clearly we learned nothing.

    Clearly.

I feel sorry for the parents and families of the brave Americans that gave their lives.
When I saw Hillary on stage yesterday the first thing that came to mind is that she wanted to look like this guy and maybe have some kind of psychological gravitas with the Committee.

She was dressed in green as well. The color of Hamas’ flag is green. I’m sure it was purely coincidental.

What I can’t justify in my mind is to this administration the men who died are always referred to as the “four Americans”. Ambassador Stephens is the only one whose name is ever mentioned. I would pass a law that requires any mention of Benghazi would also dictate saying the full names of all four men. End of rant.

I liked and agree with the rant.

  17. January 24, 2013 5:22 pm

Just for the record, I couldn’t name all four men myself until I looked it up. Here they are:

    Christopher Stevens
    Sean Smith
    Glen Doherty
    Tyrone Woods

Their names should be remembered and used.
