Mount Nelson Semaphore Station

From 1836 to 1877 a semaphore link operated between Hobart and Port Arthur. The messages were made by raising and lowering arms to set positions on the upper half of the semaphore mast. The mast is long gone but the lookout is still intact and the view, while only half as high as Mount Wellington, wasn’t too shabby.
